Thrifty Sunday

I just had the most amazing trip to my favorite thrift shop (actually, two of them). :)) I was lucky to spot some amazing things for my new workroom and also couple of little knick-knacks for my dollies.

Allow me to introduce you to my new love - vintage handpainted sewing box from 1943.

Flea market finds

I love-love-love all the amazing details. I think this is the best find of the year.

Flea market finds

I also got some nice wooden trays from old jewelry store, postcards, little beach chair for my dollies and two mini metal candlesticks.

And here are the trays in action. I will use them to store my stone collection.

Have you recently found anything cool at the flea market?

I went to a flea market today and got some nice treasures.

Bag of fabric scraps, silver plate, tiny stone box, handmade fabric storage bin and jar of buttons. Lots and lots of buttons. :)

Flea Market Finds

I've had some great finds this week. Take a look at my new treasures.

My Flea Market finds this week include:
  • beautiful porcelain cake tray that I'm going to use as jewelry display;
  • black wire napkin holder (maybe I'll paint it white, but haven't decided yet);
  • Muurla vase (I have bigger one just like that, so now I have a set). Yay! :)
I also bought some pretty cool items for my dolls, you can see them at my other blog - My Doll Cabinet.

And a bonus photo - it's not easy to take pictures with dogs in the house. :D

Other beautiful finds at Her Library Adventures.

See you next week! ;)

Nothing much in my Flea Market Finds this week. Just a cute little (actually, not so little) Moomin. Saw him yesterday at the thrift store and just couldn't walk by. So, he came home with me. He still needs good washing and grooming, but after that he'll keep me company in my coming workroom. :)

Have a nice Sunday evening! ;)

Flea Market Finds

I haven't visited flea markets for a long time, but yesterday I finally made time and went to a couple of my favourite places. Here is my catch:

  • Imperial Messenger portable typewriter in leather case. Great condition! This model was produced from 1963 to 1967.
  • Four volumes of Big Animal Book. First issued in Italy in 1974. Filled with beautiful pictures and interesting descriptions.
  • Olivetti Valentine typewriter in original case. 1969. What a beauty! True style icon.

I'm very happy with my finds! My typewriter collection keeps growing. I definitely need to move to a bigger room as soon as possible. :)

Flea Market Finds

This week I have many wonderful thrifted finds to show you. I discovered two small thrift stores in the nearby town and decided to visit both of them. Here is my catch.

Two wonderful books from 70's:
Applied Art of the Middle Ages in the Collection of the State Hermitage
and
sweet book of the best fairytales translated in Finnish.
And I also found a cute wooden candle holder that will look great on the porch.

My next find is a pastel painting from 60's. I need to open it carefully and fix the picture in the place. Do you know, what is the most amazing thing about this painting? Remember THIS post from last September?

Tadaaaam! I have a set! How cool is that?

And now let's move on to the most exciting find of the week. I still can't believe my luck, but now I'm a proud owner of this black and shiny German typewriter from 1935. And it's in excellent condition!

Now it's official - I'm collecting old (and fabulous!) typewriters. If you haven't seen the first item of my collection, click here.

And don't forget to visit Sophie to see other flea market finds from this week.

Happy thrifting! ;)

Flea Market Finds

I haven't posted anything for Flea Market Finds for ages, but yesterday I finally went to our local flea market and brought home 3 wonderful things.

Metal candle stick. It will be perfect for the bedroom.
Ceramic garlic jar. Isn't it a cutie?
And finally the thing that has been on my thrifting list for a very long time - old typewriter. I found this dusty Underwood in the darkest corner of the market and dragged it home. It needs major cleaning, but I think I can handle it. According to the serial number, it's almost 100 years old. And the coolest thing is - it has Finnish keyboard.
I'm very happy with my finds and I think I need to visit the flea market more often.

Flea Market Finds

I went flea market shopping today and brought home some lovely finds - 3 cute glass bottles that I will fill with beads and use for decorating my workroom. One old and very solid date stamp (made in Germany). I just hate those new plastic ones! And one big weird wooden object, which I fell in love with the moment I saw it. Actually, I believe it's intended for storing liquids (maybe wine or something stronger), but I think it will look great on the shelf in our living room. I love the double-sided hand-crafted ornaments and rough leather handle. Made in Bulgaria in 1976.

Hope you had fun and thrifty weekend! ;) To see other interesting flea market finds, visit Sophie, she's also giving away two beautiful brooches that I would love to have in my collection!

Flea Market Finds

I haven't been doing flea market find posts for a while, just because I didn't have time to go treasure hunting during the crazy holiday season. But today I have couple of things to show you.

Yesterday we went to visit relatives in Kouvola, which is around 40 km away from here and, of course, we couldn't resist visiting couple of local flea markets. There I found this beautiful hand-painted wooden jar with a lid. I assume that originally it's from Russia, but I could also be wrong. Now it lives on my shelf and is filled with small cotton yarn balls for crocheting.

Another find of the week is a brass thimble for my collection. I don't know how old it is, but I think it's old enough to go on the shelf with my other thimbles. I just liked its old look with a bit of patina and cute tiny dimples.

And the last, but not the least, is a beautiful pickle/olive fork. I've been looking for a perfect piece for ages. This one has very delicate double sided rose pattern and it's almost 19 cm long. It works perfectly with the rest of my silverware and I'm very happy about it.

Flea Market Finds

Here is my late flea market find post. Yesterday we spent half day wandering around beautiful town of Hamina, which is in 20 minute drive from here. We also visited local Christmas market, where I found this bell on the table full of all kinds of vintage metal goodies.

What nice things did you find this week?

Flea Market Finds

It's Sunday again, and I have some interesting finds to show you.
I haven't been flea market shopping for a while, but this week I decided to try my luck again. Surprisingly I found two things that I've been looking for during past two years.

First thing is great vintage porcelain butter dish. Perfect condition, no chippings or scratches. It has letter Z stamped on the bottom, and I'm still trying to identify the maker.

My other find of this week, which I'm very happy about, is this table mirror.

I've been looking for a mirror like this for over two years, but all I've found before have been in bad condition, repainted or way over my budget. But now I'm a proud owner of this wonderful piece, made in Finland, 50-60 years old. It's in perfect condition, clean from inside, no missing parts, no scratches. I couldn't be any happier!

Flea Market Find of the Year

This week Sophie of Her Library Adventures asked all of us to show the best finds of this year. There is even a competition going, so you can vote for your favorite find. It's a tough choice, as all of them are really great!

I've found many nice things this year and it's really hard to pick just one, so here are my top three finds of the year.

Vintage mink stole. So soft and luxurious that when I wear it I just don't want to take it off. I think I could even sleep in it. :)
The mannequin that we call Margaret was also a great find of this year.

Second great find I picked up this week. It's wooden candle holder in beautiful red brown color. It's nice and tall and it cost me ridiculous 1.5 eur (~2 usd). Great deal, isn't it?

And the third thing that I love and treasure is this beautiful brown suitcase. I use it for carrying my jewelry, when I visit my wonderful customers.

To see other amazing finds and vote for your favorite, visit Sophie.

Wishing you a great week and successful flea market shopping! ;)

Nothing much this time...
Just these two cute glass photo frames, which I'm gonna use for the pictures of my furry chihu-girl.

And a vintage ceramic ashtray from Germany. We don't have any smokers in the house, but I put it on the table in the balcony for our smoking guests.

Have a nice Sunday evening!

Flea Market Finds

It's Sunday and it's time for flea market finds. This week I found two treasures:

  • Netted cotton bag that I'm planning to use as a grocery shopping tote
and
  • Beautiful pastel painting. Unfortunately, I can't clearly see artist's signature, but the painting is dated 1967. Even the frame is in perfect condition. I really love it and I think it's gonna look nice in our living room.

Oh, and the best part, as always, is the price. 1.5 EUR for the bag and 2 EUR for the painting, which makes it 3.5 EUR (~4.5 USD) in total. Is it a great bargain or what? :))

Enjoy your Sunday!

Flea Market Finds

This week I got some great finds from the local flea market. Here they are...

A brown suitcase, leather purse, wooden trivet and trinket box. And I spent only 3.30 eur. For all of it! :)) That's around 4.20 usd. Isn't that great?

I'm gonna use the suitcase to store my fabric and leather scraps in, as they don't fit in the drawer anymore.
And cute piggy box is already on my table filled with pins.

And now I'm off to our anniversary dinner.
Have a great evening! ;)

Flea Market Finds

This week was full of beautiful finds for me. I visited local flea market and now I'll show you what I actually brought home.

I found this gorgeous cotton fabric and fell in love with the print. Those flowers have stolen my heart. Originally it's a curtain, but I think I'm gonna make some decorative pillows from it. And it cost me 2.5 EUR (around 3 USD for) 3.55 meters long and 75 centimeters wide piece. It's perfect for making pillows! :)

Then I also bought this vase. Something felt so familiar about it. I think there used to be one similar to this in my parents' house in my childhood. It has a stamp on the bottom that says that it's made in Cmielow porcelain factory in Poland.

I also bought a set of plates with lovely flowers.

I love simple English style. All are in perfect condition, and the best part is that they were only 0.5 EUR (~0.65 USD) a piece.

Here are all my treasures together. Don't pay attention to the pink reflection that comes from the fabric. :)

Did you have any luck with finding something nice for great price?
Please, visit Sophie to see what other beautiful things have been rediscovered this week.

Enjoy your Sunday! ;)
